Who We Are
The Church of Christ at Milan is part of a fellowship of churches affiliated with the Restoration Movement, a unity movement begun among Christians of various denominations in America in the nineteenth century. Its purpose is to restore the principles, practices, and spirit of the first-century church.
Our congregation is one of nearly 6,000 independent churches in the United States that do not operate under a denominational structure or organizational hierarchy, choosing instead to work toward the simple patterns of faith and practice common to the church of the first century.
Our pursuit of this goal has led us to the following commitments:
No Book but the Bible. We use the Bible alone as our guide for understanding God and his will for our lives.
No Creed but Christ. We follow the example of the apostle Peter who made this simple confession of faith: "You are the Christ, the son of the living God" (Mathew 16:16).
No Name but the Divine. We have chosen simply to call ourselves Christians. We are not the only Christians, but we are Christians only.
Our aim is to seek the unity of all Christians under the authority of Scripture as summarized by this simple statement: "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, love."
